Universal Genève, known for its wide range of chronographs, presents three modern recreations of the iconic Polerouter SAS watch. These watches commemorate the historic flight that took place 70 years ago, on November 15, 1954, with the aim of supporting pilots during their journey over the North Pole. Designed by Gérald Genta, the Polerouter featured an important micro-rotor movement and was known for its elegant design and impressive capabilities, such as resistance to shocks, magnetism, temperature changes, and moisture.
The Polerouter was a watch specifically created for the SAS pilots, who embarked on the first transpolar flight from Copenhagen to Los Angeles. The innovative design by Gérald Genta included twisted lugs, a tuxedo-like dial, and a 35mm diameter. The watch was praised for its three-dimensional effect achieved through a unique two-part design.
To pay tribute to the origins of the Polerouter, Universal Genève has created three unique tribute watches. These watches feature vintage micro-rotor calibre movements from the 1960s, which have been restored to their former glory. The designs of the watches have been influenced by the original Genta design but have been modified to meet modern standards. The dials, made with guilloche and satin-finished elements, stay true to the classic look of the Polerouter.
